Cormorant

At the Cape Cod canal I saw about 100 cormorants! They are very rare in Connecticut, and I have only seen about 5 anywhere else. I am not sure if they were double crested or great cormorants. They are in the pelican family and have a throat pouch that enables them to eat huge fish. We saw them eat many small fish.

My favorite thing that they do is when they take off, they run on the water and then lift off like a plane.
